19 Weeks Pregnant

Tag: Baby NewsJosh @ 8:47 am

We had another ultrasound this morning, and we got a good look at the plumbing. We thought from previous ultrasounds that it might be a boy, but it was too early to tell. This time, there was no doubt about it, we’re having a BOY!

Jamie and I both kinda wanted another girl, but now that we know we’re having a boy, we’re sure that’s what we really wanted all along!

I feel like a huge weight has been lifted from my shoulders… Dad’s been telling me for as long as I can remember that it was my responsibility to have a boy to carry on the family name. Well Dad, looks like I’m finally going to fulfill that responsibility!

We took Rachel with us to the Doctor’s office this time, so she got to see the baby on the monitor. She seemed excited about it, even though I’m sure the ultrasound picture didn’t look much like a baby to her.

We told her she’s going to have a baby brother, but she’s insisting it’s going to be a sister. I think she’s confused because we’ve told her she’s going to be a big sister — I guess she thinks that means the baby’s going to be a girl. Who knows what goes on in a 2-year-old’s mind?

I’ll try to scan the ultrasound pics this weekend…

Yes! We had the baby in July. See http://www.joshmoody.com/2006/07/27/hes-here/ . We named him Levi.

Our little girl was ok with it being a boy. We finally got it thru her head that just because she was the big sister didn’t mean the baby was a little sister.

We only had ultrasounds at the first Dr. appointment, then at 20 and 32 weeks. I guess different Doctors do it different ways.

We knew the question was going to come up at some point… and it did. While watching us change Levi’s diaper, Rachel sees something that doesn’t look familiar from her own anatomy, so shes asks us about it. “Little boys are different” is about the best we can come up with. Since then, my wife has said that Rachel thinks she used to have one of those, but it fell off when she was a baby.

The mind of a 2 year old is a strange and terrifying thing!

We have been calling this baby a boy every since we found out that I was pregnant. My husband has been pyaring every night for a boy. I finally broke down and allowed him to choose a boy name while I chose the girls. Well Jusy second is D-day and I can’t contain the excitement. Every wives tale says that it is a boy…
