Paw Paw Steele and I (and sometimes Uncle Jeff) spent yesterday afternoon putting together Rachel’s swing set.

The final, assembled product is ok, and Rachel loves it, but the quality of the parts left a lot to be desired, and made assembly a much bigger chore than it should have been.

I’m certain that no quality assurance measures were taken by the manuafacturer. Pieces that were supposed to fit together, didn’t. Screws that were supposed to be long enough, weren’t. Holes that were supposed to go all the way thru, didn’t. It’s almost like they just cut several pieces of metal tubing more or less to size, drilled holes in random locations with a dull bit, then had a 3rd grader write the assembly instructions…

Ok, now I’m ranting.

Anyway, Rachel loves her swing, and I’m sure she’ll play with it for many years to come, so it was all worth it. Luckily, putting together your kids’ swingset is a once in a lifetime ordeal…
